What the manufacturer says:
Light as a feather, slim-line and very stylish, the Sweet Dreams™ Sleep Eyemask [that's their name, which I chose not to use in the shop here] is a molded, contoured sleep aid that offers full comfort without any pressure to the eyes.
The Sweet Dreams™ Sleep Eyemask conveniently folds away into a complimentary drawstring carry pouch. Perfect for tossing into a beach bag, purse or briefcase for easy storage. The Sweet Dreams™ Sleeping Eyemask is great value for its small price.
What Rebecca says:
I usually try to stick with cotton sleep masks but from time to time I make exceptions and this is one. This mask is foam covered with polyester, so it's on the low end of the spectrum materials-wise. When I first saw pictures of this, I assumed it was stiff because it looks that way. However, in reality it's just a soft completely flexible foam.
This mask is nearly as broad as the really large Dreamer/Opulence type masks, but not the least bulky because foam is quite thin. Coverage-wise, it's definitely a big step up from the $1.90 basic sleep mask because of the careful shaping. When it's on me, I see no light itself except a tiny bit around the nose. That means very little air is getting through. Of course, as with all night eyewear, fit will vary with individuals. But I thought that for the price, the coverage is really good.
This mask has a considerably higher and larger cavity over the eyes than the Escape (my favorite for people with sensitive eyelids), and since it's just foam/polyester it would be easy to wash on a daily basis, so if you wanted to put some kind of pad inside it for moisture you probably could. I have not tried that myself.
I think the niche for this mask is going to be people who:
- want nothing touching their eyelids
AND any or all of the following:
- want something less expensive than Escape
- want something less thick/bulky than Escape
- want something cheaper that they won't worry about losing, can travel with, etc.
- have particular wash/care issues, for example, if you use ointment nightly, it might be easier to wash this one out daily (note however it will not be anywhere near as durable because of the type of material).
As always, if you come up with an additional use, please let me know so I can share it!
