The design.
100% T-304 stainless steel with high durometer German-made Igus bushing produces a ZERO FLEX design for ultimate precision while eliminating deformation-prone thermoplastic bushings and avoiding wear-prone metal bushings.
Includes original BMW nylon cup bushing, new clips and washers as required for installation.

Other possibilities for an inexpensive and simple race shifter?
While many racers on a budget choose an alternate BMW shifter (Z3, M3, etc.), they quickly find that all of the original BMW shifters, regardless of what the source, very quickly develop the same sort of sloppiness due to bushing wear and main shaft flex as their car's original shifters. Should a racer worry about a sloppy shifter? A singe mis-shift due to shifter slop can cost position, the race, or even a blown motor from a mechanical over-rev.
