<B>Who Is Cat Cams?</B><BR>
Little know to the mainstream tuning world outside of Europe, they are powering many of the most successful road racing, drag racing, and other motor-sport teams in many racing classes.<BR>
They offer camshafts for both common and uncommon Japanese, Italian, French, German, British and Korean vehicle applications.<BR><BR>
Based on years of research, Cat Cams advanced profiles provide your engine with more air for a given duration. This results in better cylinder filling netting more low RPM torque and a smoother power-band with fewer power compromises.<BR>
By reducing the duration and using as much lift as possible the engine will receive as much air as conventional profiles (so top end power remains the same) but powerband starts earlier giving a much improved torque curve, both for road, rally & race profiles.<BR><BR>
Cat Cams final profile selection for a given application is based upon their huge amount of experience accumulated developing camshafts for Touring cars including BTCC Winners, LeMans, GP Bikes, and even street performance applications.<BR>
This has allowed Cat Cams to produce the best performing camshafts on the market and a huge selection.<BR><BR>

<B>What makes Cat Cams different than others?</B><BR>
Cat cams general philosophy is different than most...<BR>
When you extend the cam duration in an engine there is a trade off between low/mid-range torque and "top end torque" (often referred to basically as horsepower).<BR>
It's often not a "fair trade off", as you tend to move a big chunk of your low rpm power much higher in the RPM band where it may be less usable with a smaller gain at the top.<BR>
To optimize the most effective powerband, Cat Cams keeps there profiles duration as short as possible but get the valve opening very quickly to a higher lift where the head flows better. This is the basic trend of Catcams Short duration/high lift profile designs and the results are higher torque figures and wider powerbands. Cat knows when you need to upgrade your valtrain, and optimize its performance as a whole.<BR><BR>
<B>Comparing Cat Cams profiles to other manufacturers:</B><BR>
Please note that Cat's Seat durations (@0.1mm) are often a lot smaller, however the aggressive nature of Catcams profiles means the Duration @1.0mm is often significantly higher than others.<BR>
The only real way to start to compare profiles is to ask for the duration @ 1.0mm and even with this empirical data, it is still best to leave cam selection and comparisons to a pro. (thats where the friendly staff at VAC can help you choose the right grind for your application).<BR><BR>
