Les Vins De Vienne Saint-Peray Les Bialères 2006 -- Wine Sense Shopping Cart

-- 60% Marsanne, 40% Roussanne
The wine takes its name from a local viticultural practice: the growers cut drainage channels into the hillside vineyards to run off the rainwater, thus avoiding the phenomena of furrowing and erosion. These drainage ditches are known as Bialères. The Saint-Peray appellation sits on the border between the northern and southern sections of the Côtes du Rhône. Has nice purity, with stone fruit and bracing mineral notes fronting for a richly textured palate of brioche and peach. The long, juicy finish lets a fresh, chalky hint play out. There's a good combination of fruit and mineral.
