The 2005 Mestizaje is composed of 70% Bobal, 10% Tempranillo, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Garnacha Tintorera. Located 100 kilometers west of Valencia, Mustiguillo has four vineyards in different locations throughout the Terrerazo region. Their high-altitude vineyards are planted on chalk and limestone near Utiel-Requena. They range in age from 2 to 70 years old. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, Mestizaje is purple in color with aromas of moist earth, vanilla, black cherry, and black currant. Nice complexity on the palate, this wine has excellent depth and concentration leading to a tannic finish. Try Mestizaje with a lightly-spiced spanish paella, and you will not be disappointed. ~Bernie Reilly
