<H1>Casa Castillo Monastrell, Jumilla 2007 -- Wine Thieves Shopping Cart</H1> $9.99 As is typical in the arid Spanish climate, this 100% monastrell is dry-farmed and head-pruned, meaning no irrigation or trellis system is used. The "joven" (young - 25 yrs) vines form a canopy which naturally shades the fruit from the scorching sun, similar to old zinfandel here in CA. Fermented in temperature-controlled steel tanks until completing malolactic, this wine is aged in 3yr old French and American barrels for 6 months. Dark ruby-colored, it boasts aromas of cedar, black cherry, and blueberry.
