Tasting Notes:
Dark Red Brick in color. The aroma is rich and lush, filled with loads of berries and beautiful vanilla and oak notes. The wine is medium bodied and very fruit driven, dark cherries and blueberries, with wonderful layers of tannins and fine hints of acidity making it extremely food friendly. This is a fun Merlot that has a lot going on.
Technical Notes:
77.5% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, 4.0% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2.5% Pinot Noir.
After the best growing season we have ever seen on Long Island this La Ferme Martin is a selection of the 4 varieties above. The wine was blended in February of 2006 spent 12 month in French oak (18% new) and had a total of 5 rackings. The wine was bottled without being filtered of fined mid February of 2007.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve slightly below room temperature. This wine is a great wine for everyday sipping and an excellent match for chicken or veal dishes, antipasti, Burgers and cheese.
