Entertaining Weight Loss Story
From Patricia McCord of Tucson, Arizona on .
I applaud Anne Striever for baring all in her "Fat Years" book. After being thin all my life, I've found getting more than 3 pounds off is next to impossible. Anne's book comforted me with words of "you're-not-the-only-one," but as I don't have problems with blood sugar, the actual advice was not as helpful as I'd hoped. I had already tried the high-protein approach, and that didn't work for me. The book was certainly entertaining, though, and I'm going to pass it on to someone who DOES have blood sugar issues. I do wonder if weight issues are as individual as the people afflicted. Like many women, I go from diet plan to diet plan looking for The Answer. Next up: vegetarianism.
Highly recommanded to heavy set women

I am French American living in France for the time being. Usually I live in Houston, Texas.
Had a weight problem since I am 13 y o but succeeded in staying slender by all kind of means until let's say 45 or 50 with up and down. I was laughing reading the book because I went thru the same thing. Now I am a full fledged obese and hating it and hope to apply what is recommanded in the book, it might take 3 years, yes, before I come back almost to a normal weight. I am not in a hurry. Thanks you Mrs.S.
Highly Recommended!!

What a wonderful and absolutely entertaining book. Felt so good to laugh out loud and be able to totally relate to Anne's story. It's nice to know I'm not alone. Thanks Anne!

I thought this was a fun read but found truth in much of it and many tips for changing my eating habits. Thanks
Brilliant!

Anne, I think you must be a long-lost twin sister of mine, living "over the pond"! Everything you put in the book was horribly true, laugh-out-loud funny, with good, commonsense advice. Now..... must get on and lose that flubber and get back to "me". (Why can I hear my kids laughing in the background?)
very funny read!

I wasn't sure what to expect, but more than once, I caught myself laughing out loud at some of Anne's observations. While I don't agree with all the diet points (e.g., I personally can't eat anything with sucralose, including Splenda and have a serious gluten intolerance, no whole wheat or any other kind) I think a lot of her observations about being female and changing body types were excellent points and some of the tips, like throw OUT the chocolates you really don't want to pig out on, are actually good tips.
Relevant & Supportive

I enjoyed Anne's writing enormously, her experience is candid and unfiltered. Thank you Anne for this most important work! Very little science has changed since she wrote this, doesn't really need any updating even though I could not agree on her using the yellow stuff as a fake sweetener and also much has come out lately on any and all grains creating inflammation in the body, so I can't dismiss gluten problems as she seems to do. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE and would recommend this book to any woman who needs a fresh look at themselves by following Anne on her journey to losing and keeping off her weight! You can't argue with the talk she walks! I felt I was hearing this story over a cup of coffee with her and I laughed out loud many times.
Inspiring!

This is the kind of reminder that all of us who fight this battle need on a regular basis. We need to be reassured that we can actually succeed one step at a time. It is written in such a personal way that it feels like having a conversation with a friend. Thanks for writing.
