1/29/2015 – Does this cook up similar to long grain white rice? Does it taste and have a consistency similar to long grain white rice?
Response From Ajinomoto Cambrooke: This is more like a Japanese sticky rice that is used in sushi and stir fries.
7/10/2009 – Under nutrition facts, is the weight considered the weight of the raw rice? Or is the weight based on cooked rice?
Response From Ajinomoto Cambrooke: The weights that you see for the low protein rice and pastas are dry weights (before being cooked). Final recipe weights will also be higher than may be posted due to water absorption.
4/27/2007 – Is there another way to cook this rice so that it comes out more like sticky rice for, perhaps, sushi?
Response From Ajinomoto Cambrooke: In order to prepare Japanese style, sticky rice you would either prepare it in a rice cooker according to the rice cookers instructions or a fairly consistent recipe is to use equal amounts of rice and water, which will make the same number of cups of rice as the total of the rice and water - (one-to-one ratio). The rice and water together are brought to a quick boil, boiled for 1 minute, covered and simmered for about 15 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes after removing from heat. Put the hot rice in a large bowl and add a dash of sushi vinegar over the surface of rice. Mix it into the rice. You should use about ½ - tablespoon of rice vinegar per cup of rice. Your rice is now ready for rolling into sushi.
Note – To prevent rice from sticking to the bottom of your pot, spray or rub a little oil prior to cooking.
5/21/2004 – Do you have a recipe for spanish rice using your short grain rice?
Response From Ajinomoto Cambrooke: One suggestion would be to add a Goya Achote flavor packet. This seasoning is found in the spice aisle of grocery stores. Also, you could add other spices or vegetables to make a spicy, veggie rice dish.
