Description
Come learn the art of European egg dyeing with local traditional artist, Ingrid Hersman. In this beginner workshop, Ingrid will be your guide to the techniques, history, and symbolic meaning of European egg decorating. You will create your own decorative egg using traditional tools, beeswax, and vibrant dyes. All materials will be provided by the Utah Division of Arts & Museums. Enrollment is $5 per person. This workshop is recommended for ages 10 and up.
Since her childhood in Germany, Ingrid has carried on her family's tradition of decorating eggs. She has studied and acquired skills in a variety of techniques and styles found throughout Europe including the batik-dye method, commonly recognized as Ukrainian Pysanky.
