This
listing is for a Melling Select performance oil pump for Chevrolet
small block engines (GEN I & II.) P/N 10555ST
The 10555C will
provide a 25% increase in volume over stock pumps, and it is
manufactured with the drive and idler shafts extended to allow for
additional support in the cover eliminating dynamic shaft deflection at
increased RPM levels. The cover is doweled to the pump housing to assure
alignment of the shaft bores. Also features a screw-in plug to retain
relief valve spring instead of pin, and the relief hole in cover uses a
screw-in plug instead of pressed cup plug. All bolts are self-locking
socket heads with wrench supplied.
The
unique feature of the 10555C is the addition of grooves machined in the
body and cover. The grooves reduce cavitation effects in high RPM
applications. The housing and cover are CNC machined and manganese
phosphate coated. Intermediate shaft with steel guide is included, and
pump has provisions for bolt-on or press-in 3/4" inlet screen (not
included.) Using the 10555C will reduce oil pressure at idle, and it
uses the higher pressure spring ONLY.
