Summary

David Coffaro has made wine for decades. He's constantly improving his repertoire. This Carignan varietal is an old Sonoma secret - a smoother yet interesting red. Often blended with Zinfandel by the old time winemakers here.

From the Winery: "Estate Grown, 100% Carignan from old head-pruned vines planted in approximately the 1950's

Typically used for blending by the immigrant farmers who first planted grapes in the Dry Creek Valley, our 100% Carignan stands alone and is a beautiful garnet in color with earthy aromas of cassis and cranberry. Best described with characteristics similar to something between a Merlot and a Zinfandel."
