2016 Talty Estate Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley 14.5%
The Estate Zinfandel comes from my own six acre, 58 year old head-pruned and dry-farmed vineyard in the heart of Dry Creek Valley. To intensify and concentrate the flavors I drop fruit production in the vineyard to about 2 tons per acre.
Tasting Notes:
A field blend of 7% Petite Sirah, 3% Carignane, and 90% Zinfandel. With medium concentration to the eye and a clean, powerful intensity of black dried fruit, cedar and lightly toasted oak with earth tone aromas in the nose. On the palate, you will experience dark cherry fruit, black currants, lightly toasted cedar, soft supple tannins with lovely rounded acidity. Perfect balance, medium body, nice texture and complexity ending with a classic long and lingering finish.
