Winemaker Notes:
A beautiful representation of the 2017 vintage and the power
of Petit Verdot. This wine offers a
complexity of dried dark fruit of figs and dates along with some ripe red
fruits and a dollop of lemon zested whipped cream. All these fruits are wrapped up in a nice
layer of cocoa. The chocolatey fruit
layers are incapsulated with a touch of forest floor earthiness and some fresh
herbal tones. The tannins are well structured
and complement the oak very nicely. The
finish is powerful yet well balanced with many layers. You could enjoy this with many different
foods or simply by itself as a whole meal!
Vintage:
A mild winter and a warmer Spring were the perfect
conditions for an early bud break. The
Summer months were a bit warmer, approximately 5 degrees on average, and not as
much rain also helped to create a great vintage with an abundance of
grapes. The humidity seemed to be a bit
less as well helping to create very good growing conditions. In the Fall we did not see too much rain and
the weather was very mild to warm.
Overall 2017 was the best vintage I have experienced in Virginia
