Winemaker Notes:
A bright fruity wine with elements of cherry, raspberry,
rhubarb and blueberry. The fruits are
well balanced with an herbaceous minerality note that combines with some ripe
olives and a touch of vanilla. There is
a pleasant cocoa aspect that is reminiscent of a chocolate covered blueberry
cordial. The tannins are gripping yet
approachable. Overall the wine is well
balanced and is a good representation of the vintage.
Vintage:
The Columbia Valley cycled through cool and warm months at
the start of the growing season, delaying bud break a bit. In June there was even bloom with cooler
temperatures which lead to a heavier crop.
A warm summer followed by near perfect conditions in September and
October led to one of the best vintages in Washington in many years. Some winemakers are calling it the best they
have experienced.
