Winemaking:
55% Merlot (Oak Knoll District) foundation, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon (Coombsville) for length, 20% Syrah (Coombsville) for complexity.
The 2023 Red Blend is a composite of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. It is a multi-layered wine with immersive and bright fruit, subtle spice, and blooming floral character. Each vineyard adds character to this wine. The Merlot adds a warm jamy fruit body with soft chocolate notes, a smooth palate and a velvety finish. The Cabernet Sauvignon provides a proud structure and deep berry. The Syrah provides complexity, rich dark fruit, and balanced spice.

Roots:
The 2023 vintage is a blend of three different varieties from three different sub appellations within the Napa Valley. The Merlot vineyard is in the Oak Knoll district, a region near the entrance to the Napa Valley and relatively close to the San Pablo Bay. It’s cool, foggy mornings and mild temperatures build wines with bright fruit and soft elegant tannins. Our Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Atlas Peak district which is mountainous area 2,500 ft. above the valley floor. Resting above the fog, it soaks in full sunlight during the day. The nights are cold and the soil is red and rocky. This all contributes to excellent tannin development and bright fruit flavors. Our Estate Syrah vineyard is in the Coombsville district, located just east of the City of Napa and also close to the San Pablo Bay. Refreshingly cool afternoon breezes and distinct volcanic ash soil produce complex fruit, spice flavors and subtle tannins.
