2023 White Blend, Napa Valley

"The 2023 White Blend is a mix of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, and Viognier. Sometimes in the blending process, I find that the final blend has an integration, balance, and character all its own. This blend seems to bring out the floral qualities of each vineyard. The Sauvignon Blanc has crisp, fresh herbal, and citrus notes that are very apparent in the first taste and in the long finish. The Chardonnay provides some structure and a delightful texture with a lot of pear and stone fruit aromatics. The Chenin Blanc adds bright notes of quince, apple, and ginger. Viognier is the elixir. Although only 2% of the blend, it enhances the mouth feel and the honey and stone fruit aromatics."

The 2023 White Blend is made for four different white varietals. The Sauvignon Blanc is from the hotter Hidden Valley area of Napa Valley. It is an ideal climate for full ripeness and for the development of fragrant fruit and fresh herb character. The Chardonnay is a rare vineyard selection called Rued. It comes from a small block located on the Simpatico Ranch in Bennett Valley. The Rued selection is known for its intense aromatics. The Chenin Blanc and Viognier are grown in the Oak knoll District. This region is good for ripening these warm climate varieties without compromising any of the delicate flavors.
