2023 Tzabaco Rancho Vineyard Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley 14.8%
100% Zin, a true rarity these days. In 1856, the great, great, great grandfather of current owner Tom Schmidt bought 137 acres and planted Zinfandel on 45 of those acres. The portion we source from came from a beautiful block of head trained, dry farmed vines on the benchland of Dry Creek Valley, planted in 1968.
Tasting Notes:
This Zinfandel opens with vibrant aromas of ripe cherry and blackcurrant, intertwined with delicate violet floral notes. On the palate, layers of toasted oak and hazelnut unfold, complemented by subtle hints of vanilla and warm spices. Medium-bodied with balanced tannins, it offers a smooth, lingering finish that invites another sip. Elegant and expressive, this wine beautifully marries fruit, floral, and nuanced oak characteristic for a memorable experience.
